Asbestos is a naturally occurring mineral, commercially mined and used extensively in an estimated half a million buildings and products within the UK for its properties such as heat and chemical resistance, low thermal conductivity, flexibility and high tensile strength. Exposure to asbestos fibres through inhalation can cause irreversible damage to the lungs and it remains the UK’s biggest occupational killer with there being typically a 15 to 60 years gap from first exposure to diagnosis.
Licensed by the Health and Safety Executive (license number 4910603500), IES prides itself on its ability to plan and control all aspects of its operations in dealing with this hazardous material. It applies the most up to date and efficient techniques in asbestos abatement and an approach that is designed to minimise disruption to the client and the environment in which the work is being carried out.
A significant portion of contracts undertaken by IES are carried out within highly sensitive areas such as private and public housing, schools, universities, hospitals, hotels and retail outlets. Other areas of operation include construction and demolition sites, factories and warehouses managed by some of the leading companies within the UK. Each time IES are able to adapt to the clients requirements to achieve a workable solution that results in job completion with the least amount of inconvenience possible.
IES recognise that maintaining such high levels of service can only be achieved by staff investment. The IES workforce is trained to the highest standards from senior management level through to site operatives. Each contract is appointed a dedicated team to ensure a seamless operation from inception to completion.
